Blue Horizon Marine Surveys were formed through a thorough pedigree in design, repair, refitting, maintaining and building vessels covering a broad spectrum

It all started over three decades ago with a Ministry of Defence Shipwright apprenticeship working on Royal Naval warships, the most well known being HMS Victory. Then working at the world renown 220 + year old Camper and Nicholson Yachts as a Shipwright, supervisor, Project Manager on a wide variety of yachts. During the 1990’s there was a resurgence of grand wooden yachts from the mid twentieth century being completely renovated – this is where the passion for wooden yachts has derived.

Ministry of Defence Shipwright Apprenticeship

Began in 1985 as a shipwright working on Royal Navy warships, including the historic HMS Victory.

Camper & Nicholsons Heritage

Served as shipwright, supervisor, and project manager at this world-renowned premier yacht builder.

Wooden Boat Specialist

Decades of expertise in early to mid-century wooden yachts while working at Camper and Nicholson Yachts, notably contributing to the classic yacht revival that started in the 1980s.

Advanced Material Expertise

Supervised super yacht projects involving modern construction, including a pre-race season refit of a 105′ carbon fibre maxi sailing yacht and a new build 120′ aluminium sailing yacht.

Vosper Thornycroft

Managed several contracts including a Ministry of Defence refit and repair contract overseeing upwards of 100 vessels on-site, a broad spectrum of vessels from Challenge 67’ round the world steel sailing yachts to special forces special craft.

Technical Training

Dedicated several years to shaping the next generation of maritime experts by mentoring / training boatbuilder apprentices on government funded apprenticeship programs in most boat yards along the UK south coast while employed by Vosper Thornycroft.

This included Sunseeker International with over one hundred apprentices alone and geographically as far as Sandquay, Dartmouth; the Royal Navy affiliated boatyard that supports the Britannia Royal Navy College.
